Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using Scam Sentinel (the “App”), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. What the service is, and is not
Scam Sentinel helps you identify and avoid likely scam phone calls, text messages, and emails through on-device checks, AI analysis of messages you submit, a known-scam database, and optional caregiver alerts. It is a decision aid, not a guarantee. It will not detect every scam, may flag some legitimate contacts (false positives), and may miss some malicious ones (false negatives). AI verdicts, risk scores, and cited reporting are informational and can be wrong. You remain responsible for your own decisions. Never treat a verdict, or the absence of a warning, as proof that a contact or message is safe.
3. Eligibility and accounts
You must be the age of majority in your jurisdiction (or have a guardian’s consent) to use premium features. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping it secure.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Premium features are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through Apple’s App Store. The free tier includes a limited number of AI message checks per day; premium tiers include more checks and the additional protection features. Payment, renewal, and cancellation are governed by Apple and your Apple Account settings, and Apple’s terms apply to the purchase. Prices and inclusions are shown in the app. Manage or cancel in your Apple subscription settings; refunds are handled by Apple per their policy.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to: abuse or poison the threat database with false reports; submit content you have no right to submit; attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or overload the service; use the App for unlawful purposes; or use it to harass others, including misuse of Guardian alerts. Abuse may result in rate-limiting, suspension, and, for serious or illegal abuse, preservation and disclosure of integrity data to Apple or law enforcement, as described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Your content
When you report a scam, paste or scan a message for an AI check, or share or forward a message or email for analysis, you grant us a non-exclusive license to process it to provide the service and to extract scam indicators (such as malicious numbers, links, or sender IDs) and a de-identified scam pattern that improve detection for all users. We handle content per the Privacy Policy: content is deleted after the verdict, and we keep only de-identified patterns and indicators. Do not submit content you are not permitted to share.
7. Guardian and Family Circle
Guardian alerts require the consent of both the protected user and the guardian. Either party may end the pairing at any time. Guardian alerts are best-effort and depend on network and notification delivery, and they are limited by platform constraints. Do not rely on Guardian alerts as a sole or emergency safeguard.
8. Disclaimers
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. We do not warrant that the App will detect all scams or correctly classify every call, message, or email. Scam-detection labels are informational only.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SENTINEL VAULT CONSULTING IS NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR SPECIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON, OR THE ABSENCE OF, A SCAM WARNING. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or twenty U.S. dollars.
10. Third-party services
The App relies on Apple platform services and third-party data providers. We are not responsible for those services’ availability or accuracy. Your use of Apple’s services is governed by Apple’s terms.
11. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these Terms or to protect the service. Provisions that by nature should survive, such as disclaimers, liability limits, and the content license, survive termination.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms, and material changes will be notified in the app. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
